Installing Practice KPIs.

About a minute, no administrator rights. If Windows shows a blue warning, that's expected for a new app, and the steps are below.

Install, step by step

  2. Open it.From your browser's downloads, or your Downloads folder.
  3. If Windows shows a warning.Follow the steps in the next section.
  4. Click through the installer. It installs for your Windows user only and puts Practice KPIs on your Start menu.
  5. Practice KPIs opens.Accept the terms once, then we'll set up your reports together.

The Windows warning

The first time you run a new app, Windows may show a blue box that says "Windows protected your PC". This is Microsoft Defender SmartScreen. It appears when Windows hasn't yet seen many people install a file. It's a reputation check, not a virus scan, and it doesn't mean anything was found.

Windows protected your PC

Microsoft Defender SmartScreen prevented an unrecognized app from starting. Running this app might put your PC at risk.

More info

Don't run
  1. Click More info.
  2. Check that the app is PracticeKPIs-setup-….
  3. Click Run anyway.

No "Run anyway" button?

Your PC's settings, or your practice's IT policy, block apps that aren't yet known to Windows. Windows 11's Smart App Control can do this too. Ask your IT person to allow the file (the details are below), or write to [email protected] and we'll help. We're getting the installer code-signed, which makes this step rarer.

Check the file

Every release lists the download's SHA-256 checksum in the release notes. To compare it, open PowerShell in your Downloads folder and run:

Get-FileHash .\PracticeKPIs-setup-0.9.8-XXXXXX.exe -Algorithm SHA256

The code at the end of the file name is yours, but the file inside is the same for everyone, so its checksum matches the one in the release notes. The download then fetches the full installer and checks its checksum itself before it runs it. Download only from clinihealth.app.
